Mobile Monday Tel Aviv August event: Mobile Content

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Yesterday we held the 3rd MoMo TLV event. It was at Mandy’s, on the Yarkon and the topic was mobile content. 130 guest came and orange handed out gifts. I spotted 3 blond women other than me, next event I promise to take a photo of blonds…,

momo TLV We had a speed lecture session; each person talked 15 min. we had a special guest from China – Ori Elraviv, Dragon ports Co-Founder, that talked about the mobile scene in china, and mostly answered question. Aviv Revach, Mominis Co-Founder, gave a short intro about mobile gaming. Guy Ami-Ad from Mobi, talked about mobile advertising and was charming as always, Aviad Rabinovich, Oranges Music Manager talked in addition to the regular "listening to music on your handset" about using your mobile for getting to know more music, music campaigns and song recognition, which I liked the most. It works by sending a part of a song recording to some server, and receiving the name of the band, song name and the album in a few seconds from the server. I was impressed, even more than seeing 3 other blonds in a mobile event.  I already know some sites that do something similar, such as WatZatSong, but in those sites you need to wait for users to recognize the song and say what it is. I don’t know what was the application that Aviad was using, but I liked it very much and Ill will find out… :)

As always we had an open bar, thanks to our sponsors Orange, BlueRun Amdocs and Eurocom.

More pictures from the event can be found here.

Best concert of the year; And One

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

*Link to pictures is in the end of the post

Friday, May 30th, I went to the And One Concert, an old Synthpop/EBM band from Germany.

The concert was in Barby Tel Aviv. I was very much surprised to find the place full!. knowing that the gothic scene in Israel is growing, I still didn’t expect the place to be packed.

     and one

Although the whole organization was terrible, the great 2 hours(!!!) concert was the best one I saw this year.

On the Barby site, the opening time was 22:00. Knowing the Barby, I knew that the opening band will not start before 23:00. We arrived at that time, at the entrance we were told that no cameras are allowed and that we must leave the cameras in the car. As the Barby being in the south side of town, I didn’t  want to have the chance of getting my camera stolen from the car. After some phone calls and arguments, I entered the Barby (Happy Happy me). The opening band – Beyond Cause- went on stage only at 23:30- a bit late. Being happy that And One are in Israel, The keyboard Player being hot and the singer even more, we didn’t care too much.

Beyond Cause - And One Beyond Cause - And One

They gave a fun show, and now we were prepared for And One…  unfortunately And One only went on stage at 1:00 am!, we waited around an hour after the opening band, and 3 hours from what was published!!

And One

And One got on stage, full of energy. Other than having good songs they sure know how to perform! Steve Naghavi,  (the singer) is also a great dancer and really knows how to make contact with the audience, especially in Hebrew.  It seemed that he knows allot of words such as "bira", "Shalom" and some uncommon words such as "Shilshol"… :P

Other than doing allot of old songs, they did covers of Alphaville, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Eurythmics and some more… making it more fun for people that don’t know allot of their songs. They gave a concert of 2 hours, which was very energetic and most of it I, and the rest of the audience where dancing and going wild…

I would like to thank Shahaf Shwartz for making this evening happen. after I was lucky to see And One, In Strict Confidence and Hocico  in Israel, I hope to see Blutengel

MobileMonday Tel Aviv: Launch Event

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Yesterday, Monday 12th of May, was our first event. it was held in a bar in Hertzelya Pituach.

Mobile Monday Tel Aviv Event MobileMonday Tel Aviv Event

The event was a big success. Much more people than we expected arrived. It was mostly a networking event, with an open bar and food such as sushi,  cheese and other good things. Orange, our annual sponsor also handed out gifts. Sorry for those who came late, and missed out…

As all the events (to come) of Mobile Monday Tel Aviv, the event had lectures. This time, since it was our opening event and we wanted to make it interesting to all participants, we had 2 general lectures; Ofir Yaffe, From Orange which talked about mobile product development and Yoav Lorch from Zlango, who talked about courtship, mating and reproduction with mobile operators. I hope these two lectures interested everyone, and if not, there was enough alcohol to make things happier :) .

Me with Orens ToyI was happy to meet allot of new people and even more happy to see old friends. It was very nice to see Michael Poppler from Gips come to our event, while he is here in Israel.

Oren Todoros from Modu came with his small toy, which was a hit. I guess in our industry, The smaller, the better. :)

Our next events will have a theme and will target different aspects of the mobile industry. If you would like to lecture or interested in a specific theme, let us know! you can email me or tell us on our facebook group.

The MoMo TLV Team

Hope you had fun like I did!

See you in the next MobileMonday Tel Aviv Event!

HandyTech 2008 Event – From my point of view

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Last Wednesday I attended the HandyTech 2008 event. it was in Dizingof Center. the event was held by Handy and Pocket PC Freak. The event included various stands by companies such as Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and others and some key speakers, including Arne Hess, founder of The Unwired.

The exhibitors stands were nothing special, the most interesting attraction was  the blond girls of Sumsung and SanDisk. To make things clear,  Im a girl, and a girl that is interested in technology, unfortunately there was nothing to interesting at the stands, for me at least.

The lectures were more interesting, Arne Hess And Helio Diamant (from Pocket PC Freak)  tried to demonstrate some cool things, but had some problems doing so, due to connectivity issues (the world of mobile is cool, but not 100% working… yet)

Arne Hess talked mainly about seeing multimedia files from home on your mobile device, using Place shift and SlingBox, something which I didn’t really relate to. Helio Diamant, talked about calling a specific phone number, receiving it as a VOIP call, using any SIM card, with any number and being able to exchange your SIM card, and still receive the call when calling the original phone number. (Changing SIM cards is done for  saving on roaming coasts). After talking to him at the end of the event he explained (since during the lecture I didn’t fully understand) that he was using both Gizmo and Fring to make this happen, probably something that only a gadget freak like him could do with just a bit of trouble. Gal Biran, From Microsoft, gave an interesting lecture on different new application to come out, and about cool things that Microsoft is doing for Windows Mobile. at some point during the lecture a blond stewardess offered snacks, Johnny Walker black label, and other nice alcoholic beverages.

At the end of the lectures, a wide variety of prizes where handed out to some of the lucky winners that came. I was surprised of the quality and amount of prizes, such as Navigation devices, mp4 players etc. Sadly I never win :(

Awaiting for next year….
